5G on the Horizon
5G wireless is scheduled to hit the market around 2020 and the International Data Corporation (IDC) is predicting that the average consumer will own five wireless devices at that time.
This will boost the demand for bandwidth, forcing networks to evolve. Part of this evolution will involve the densification of cells to enable 5G. These additional cells, whether small cells, metro cells or traditional macro cell sites, will require greater power and fiber backhaul.
