Celebrating Our Independence
The Fourth of July or Independence Day, has been a U.S. Federal Holiday since 1941, but the tradition of 4th of July celebrations goes back to the American Revolution. In June 1776, representatives of the 13 colonies then fighting in the revolutionary struggle contemplated a resolution that would declare their independence from Great Britain. On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted positively for independence, and two days later its delegates embraced the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 until present, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with classic festivities ranging from fireworks and parades to casual family gatherings and barbecues. Wishing all of you a happy and safe 4th of July Holiday from the Alamon Family. God bless America.
